Note: This year’s silent auction is in-person only. If you wish to bid on any of these auction items, you must attend the Holiday Party & Fundraiser on Saturday, November 16 from 6p-9p at the Grace Lutheran Church High School Gymnasium (1350 Baldy Ave, Pocatello ID, 83201).

Auction Item: 5-Person Dove Hunt to Argentina OR Uruguay, donated by Matt Lucia
Migrate to South America for premier wingshooting at one of MGW’s signature lodges in Argentina or Uruguay. The winner(s) of this trip will be treated to some of the finest dove shooting in the southern hemisphere, while being taken care of by professional field guides and lodge staff. This is a hunt of a lifetime, and one that will not be forgotten! The value of this hunt is $14,000.
This package includes:
- 5 nights lodging in MGW lodge of choice in Argentina or Uruguay (space available on first come basis)
- 5 days of hunting (a maximum of 9 total hunts)
- Field guides
- Gun cleaning
- Transfers to and from dove fields
- Laundry service
- Meals and beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic)
Not included in this package: Airfare, Roundtrip Airport transportation ($125/person – Argentina & $300/person – Uruguay), Hunting licenses ($375/hunter – Argentina & $425/hunter – Uruguay), Gun rental ($100/day – Argentina & $110/day – Uruguay) for those not wishing to bring their own gun, Shells (market cost average for 2023 was $19-$26/box), and Gratuity.
Hunts must be taken within 2 years of the date of the event and must be scheduled within 60 days of event. Availability of dates/lodges is on a first come first serve basis. Auction Item: Rock climbing or rappelling trip in Southeast Idaho, donated by Austin Fisher
Enjoy a day out climbing or rappelling at a local scenic crag (Soda Springs, Pocatello, or Bear River Range) with local climber and outdoor enthusiast, Austin Fisher! Interested in rock climbing but haven’t ever been? This is the perfect opportunity to be instructed by a seasoned climber and “learn the ropes!” Learn the basics of climbing, with a short introduction to gear and safety, followed by climbing on easy terrain. Already a climber? No problem, you can spend the day climbing new areas not found in guidebooks/websites (you may even get to name a new route)!
If you are not interested in climbing, but prefer to rappel, we can do that too! You will safely learn the basics of rappelling and experience a fun day out descending cliffs. You will be treated to a fantastic experience and safely exposed to a fun and exciting climbing environment.
No experience necessary. Plan for a 4-hour day of climbing or rappelling. Package includes all technical climbing equipment (shoes, harness, helmet, carabiners, belay device, rope). The winner will be responsible for lunch, water, sunscreen, and basic outdoor clothing and footwear (closed toe shoes). Additional details to be worked out with the winner.

Few things are as stunning as a hummingbird in flight but a bird in the hand is another level of awesome! The opportunity to see these animals up close is an intimate experience. Since 2003, we have been researching aspects of hummingbird biology by banding the hummingbirds at Rudeen Ranch, South of American Falls, Idaho.
This ticket is good for one vehicle (up to 8 passengers) to the banding demonstration.

This split bamboo fly rod was owned by local fishing legend, Harrison “H” Hilbert, as part of his fly rod collection. The rod was bequeathed to H’s nephew, David Hilbert, who generously donated it to Sagebrush Steppe Land Trust for a silent auction item. This fly rod is well-maintained and combines tradition and performance for a memorable fishing experience.

Auction Item: Acrylic on canvas painting of a Columbian Sharp-tailed Grouse, painted and donated by Parker Lloyd
Parker took inspiration from a Spring lek tour with Matt Lucia, who took Parker and his partner out to a property to observe a lek. After waking up at 4am, the rig crawled across the plateau and they saw rustling in the distance. When light began to dance off the mountain peaks, the subject was made clear: a female Columbia Sharp-Tailed Grouse perched on top of a sagebrush, marking the edge of their lek. Soon, many more became visible and they spent a couple frozen hours marveling at their strange dance!
Auction Item: Tumbled rock magnets, created and donated by Kendra Crismon and Matt Schenk
These tumbled rock magnets are comprised of agate or jasper and were hand collected by Matt and Kendra either from the Challis Volcanics Field in Central Idaho where quartz and agate precipitated in vugs of ~ 52-39 million-year-old tuff and rhyolite deposits, or picked up off of the many gravel bars of the Snake River between Blackfoot and the American Falls Reservoir. They tumble for 4-6 weeks before they take on the luster and shine they exhibit now!
