Application opens: November 1, 2023
Application deadline: November 30, 2023
Sagebrush Steppe Land Trust (SSLT) is seeking applications for our annual Artist in Residence (AIR) program. This program is an agreement between an artist and SSLT. With this agreement, the artist tells the story and mission of the Land Trust through artistic mediums and the Land Trust promotes the artist at events and through social media platforms and print marketing. SSLT is looking to partner with local artists across the visual arts mediums. Painters, illustrators, photographers, sculptors, videographers, ceramic artists and more are invited to apply.
Applications will be reviewed by a committee and judged based on the quality of the work and professionalism of the images.
The AIR is encouraged to participate in the annual monitoring of conservation easement and fee-title properties. Monitoring typically begins in the spring and ends in early fall. If the artist cannot attend the regularly scheduled monitoring day, SSLT will provide directions and obtain permission for the artist to view the properties on their own. Attending monitoring visits gives the artist access to lands not open to the public, an opportunity to learn more about the importance of conservation, and opportunities for artistic inspiration.
SSLT will be granted the use, at no charge, of select images from the artist for promotional and marketing purposes. The AIR is expected to complete a body of work to be exhibited at the annual year-end fundraiser. One piece of artwork will be donated to the annual year-end fundraiser silent auction.
APPLICATION
SSLT will accept applications starting November 1st and will stop accepting applications by midnight on November 30th. The new AIR will be announced on December 15th and their term will begin January 1st of 2024 and close on December 31st of 2025.
Application must include:
- 6 images; 300 dpi, jpeg format, longest side no larger than 7”
- Statement of Interest; no more than 1 page detailing your connection to conservation and the outdoors, and how your work relates to the Land Trust’s mission
Please submit applications and questions to admin@sagebrushlandtrust.org
