Annette Herman brings extensive experience in organizational leadership, governance, and partnership-building to Sagebrush Steppe Land Trust’s board of directors. 

“The only way meaningful things happen is by a group of well-intended people coming together to strive toward a common objective, and that’s what I see this board is doing, and I’m just pleased to be a part of it,” Herman said. 

Originally from Kansas, Herman attended Utah State University and has been living in the West ever since. Most recently, she lived in Park City for 29 years before moving to Pocatello, where she was drawn to the community’s welcoming atmosphere and easy access to open spaces and outdoor recreation. 

“I love the openness and kindness of the people,” she said. “I enjoy hiking, biking, skiing — and I love that there is uncluttered space in which to do those things.” 

Herman began her career as a respiratory therapist before moving into healthcare leadership, ultimately spending approximately 10 years leading UnitedHealthcare in Utah. She holds a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts and a master’s degree in business administration. 

Annette also has a background in conservation, having served on the board of the Swaner EcoCenter in Park City as well as becoming its CEO. Through that work, she gained experience in land restoration, conservation easements, and land preservation. 

Annette has served on a number of boards, and currently is on the board of St. Vincent de Paul in Pocatello and Delta Dental of Idaho.
